MISSION STATEMENT:

The mission of Health Services is to create and sustain a school health system that promotes and supports student achievement, health and well-being.

Am I well enough to come to school? , our district's GUIDELINE to help you decide whether to send your child to school or keep him/her home.  In general, please keep your child home if he/she is not feeling well.

MPS has a 24 hour exclusion rule:

A child should not come to school (and will be sent home) if they have or have had:

  • vomiting or diarrhea in the past 24 hours
  • a fever of 100 degrees F orally or 99 degrees F axillary (under the armpit) or higher in the past 24 hours
  • an undiagnosed skin rash
  • untreated live head lice

Students should not return to school until 24 hours from the last episode of vomiting, diarrhea or until the fever has returned to normal (for 24 hours) WITHOUT the use of Tylenol.

To call a student in sick, please dial 668-4186.  If leaving a voice mail, please spell your child's last name and indicate the nature of their illness.

Many helpful forms such as our Medication Consent form, can be found on the main Minneapolis Health Services website.  Click http://health.mpls.k12.mn.us/ to access those forms.  See below for Authorization for Administration of Medications at School form.
