Scholastic Book Fair
Read Every Day!

The annual Scholastic Book Fair is a fun event for the kids and a great way for our school to get more books and resources. Not only do students go home with lots of new books to read, but all profits are used for the teachers and media center to buy more books and resources that benefit our students. There are lots of ways to participate—shop for books at the school, buy books at the online book fair, send change and bills for All for Books, or any combination of these!  This year you will be able to enjoy the Community Breakfast along with the Book Fair on Thursday, October 26.

There are two ways to shop our school's book fair. You can shop at school and choose from a large selection of books, including affordable value books and Spanish-language books. Shopping in person also allows you to purchase books for your child's classroom using the teachers' wish lists. Or, you can shop online. There is an expanded selection of books available online, including free shipping to school. Family and friends are also welcome to shop our book fair online!

This fall's Commuity Breakfast will occur during the book fair. Come to school at 8:15 am on Thursday, October 26 and enjoy breakfast provided by our community partner Common Roots. Community Breakfast is a great time to meet other familes and get to know Whittier staff and teachers.  You can participate in the Book Fair during or after Community Breakfast.

There are several classroom activities organized during the book fair, including:

  • All for Books: Students are encouraged to bring change and bills to put in their classroom canister. Classroom teachers get the money raised to spend at the book fair. Gift certificates to the book fair are given to the classes who raise Most Money and collect Most Coins.
  • Golden Tickets:  A couple of lucky students in each class get a certificate for a free book.
  • Reading Tickets: Students who get "caught" reading by an administrator win a free book.
