Samantha Johnson, SPEN Social Worker

Hello! My name is Samantha Johnson and I am so happy to be apart of the Whittier International community as the social worker for the SPEN program. I grew up in Northeast Minneapolis and attended Minneapolis Public Schools from kindergarten to 12th grade. I am happy to be giving back to this community! At Whittier I support the SPEN program in various ways including, but not limited to, offering assistance to homeless/highly mobile families, providing support to teachers and support staff, facilitating special education due process, attendance interventions, and serving as point person for mental health and child welfare concerns.

I graduated with my masters in social work from the University of St. Thomas/St. Catherine University and have experience as a mental health consultant with Head Start, working with and in schools, early childhood mental health, trauma, and childhood development.
