Carla Korb

My name is Carla Korb. I teach Visual Art. I have been teaching in Minneapolis since 1982, The first 14 years of my teaching I worked in Special Education with students having significant Developmental Delays. I 've been teaching art since that time. I have had the bulk of my teaching experience with 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. I enjoy those years when students are growing and changing. This year I will be teaching here at Whittier (High Five, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade) and at Longfellow Alternative School for young Mothers. I look forward to learning as I work with these new age groups.

I attended Cornell College in Mt. Vernon, Iowa earning a triple major in Art, English, and Theater. I went to Indiana University earning a K-12 teaching license in Visual Art. I came to the Twin Cities and earned a Special Education licenses from The College of St. Thomas and a Masters in Teaching from St Mary’s.

I continue to work in my home studio where I paint, draw, and create stained glass pieces on commission.

Drawings of mine have appeared in the classrooms area of the Minneapolis Institute of Art on 4 occasions and I continue to study as part of a drawing in the galleries class taught at the Mia.

My other hobbies are gardening, reading and creating handmade gifts from the kitchen.
