My name is Gretchen Mattson and I am thrilled to be a part of the Whittier International School Community. I have had the pleasure of working in amazing schools (Seward, Field, Lucy Laney, Hmong International, Marcy) in MPS in a variety of roles. Most recently, I was the IB-PYP Coordinator at Elizabeth Hall International. I am so passionate about the work that we are able to do in an IB-PYP school.
Last year, I taught 4th and 5th grade Literacy at Hamilton Elementary in the Anoka-Hennepin school district with three other former Minneapolis teachers. It was a fabulous year of growth and learning to be able to be back in the classroom and investing in students.
This year, I am an Instructional Coach/Differentiation Specialist with our third, fourth, and fifth grade teachers. I look forward to working along side teachers as they build strong classroom communities and teach students through the IB-PYP lens of inquiry and agency.
When I am not at school, I am a personal chauffeur to my two teenage kiddos, Hailey and Ezra. I spend a lot of time at the rink cheering on my son in hockey or watching my daughter who is a cheerleader for White Bear Lake High School. I love to read, spend time with friends and family, travel, teach, run, take students to Space Camp, and write.
I am excited to be a part of the Whittier Community!
