Hello Whittier Families!
My name is Kamille Wells, I have been at Whittier International Elementary since 2012. I am currently a 5th grade teacher here at Whittier International, in room 207.
I earned my Bachelor Degree in communication arts from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1997. I obtained my first Master’s Degree in 2004 in teaching and learning from St. Mary’s University. In 2010, I obtained my Education Specialist Degree from St. Mary’s University in curriculum, assessment and instruction. I also earned my Reading Specialist license in 2012 along with my second Master’s Degree in Literacy.
Prior to Whittier International, I was a Content Focus Literacy Coach in Minneapolis and worked at Kenwood and Marcy Open schools . In this role some of the duties that I performed were; guiding teachers through professional development, conferring cycles and promoting student achievement by coaching teachers to use a set of core issues of lesson design and reflection to plan, deliver and reflect on rigorous, standards-based lessons.
In my freetime I enjoy; painting/coloring, hiking, listening to music, reading, watching scary movies and spending quality time with my family.
I am a firm believer that all children can learn and reach their highest potential. Students need to be provided with a rigorous academic curriculum and be challenged to engage in high-level thinking. Equity/culture and diversity is meticulously weaved into every inch of my classroom. Windows to see from a different perspective and Mirrors to see myself represented in my classroom.
I am committed to public education, and the students I teach.
